In 1947 Robert Holliday won the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions vs. Pat Lowery of Cleveland, OH by decision at flyweight and represented Chicago for the Intercity Golden Gloves' championship at flyweight with Asuncion Llanos being awarded the verdict, in the same year he also won the National AAU vs. Tukumo Hanagami at flyweight.
In 1948 he won the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions vs. Joe Castaneda of Chicago, IL by decision at flyweight and represented Chicago for the Intercity Golden Gloves' championship at flyweight with Henry Gault being awarded the verdict.
