Mark Lanton was born in Rockland County, NY and he began boxing at 11 years old, having been taught by his older brothers and other prominant boxing figures of the 1970's. Names such as Charlie Caserta, Freddy Spry Sr., Sal Corrente, Angel Nieves and Mansfield "Pops" Driscoll. Mark had influences as he came up in boxing such as Alex Ramos, Davey Moore, Mitch Green, Doug Dewitt. At 18 yrs old, Mark Joined the U.S Army and he became 4X European boxing champion. He was also 2X All-Army and Armed Forces 156lb boxing champion. During his Army career, he won countless boxing titles throughout the world. Mark won the 1992 Western Olympic boxing trials which qualified him to compete in the U.S Olympic Boxing Trials for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. After these Olympics, Mark was discharged from the Army and he relocated to his hometown in New York.
After a few years of living in NY, Mark moved to Pensacola, Florida where he was a police officer. Mark later turned pro out of the Roy Jones Jr camp in Pensacola. Mark had 13 pro fights before he retired and continued his law enforcement career.
Mark is a retired E-8 from the Air Force Reserves where he served 2 combat tours in the Iraq War as a Combat Medic. Mark is also decorated as a combat veteran.
