Bud Anderson was born either Sept. 13, 1887, or April 8, 1888--depending on the source.
He had his appendix removed in July 1913. [1][2]
Around this time in July 1913, former heavyweight champion Jim Jeffries was touting Anderson's skills. "Careful management is all that is required to make a champion out of him." [3]
But, at the same time in mid-1913, others thought: "Like a good horse that has been run to death, Anderson was rushed to the front too soon." [4]
In late 1914 he was recovering from gall-stone surgery, per the Sept. 16 Tacoma Daily News (Tacoma, WA, USA).
He retired from a professional boxing career in August 1915 to devote his attention to the raising of livestock on a ranch. Per the July 28, 1919 Tacoma News Tribune, he was seriously injured when a shipyard co-worker turned a compressed air-gun on him as a practical joke. (See the July 1, 1913 Tacoma Daily News for another photograph of Anderson.)
