   Started boxing at age 22, compiled 132 toughman contests (2000-2002) and then fought 24 amateur fights (2002-2003) before turning pro in 2004.  Trained with Dondoza Roberts and Alfred Charity in their backyard for years due to the lack of there being a boxing gym in Jacksonville, Florida.  Fought amateur from Kingsland, Georgia and went "Open Class" almost immediately to compete in advancing tournaments. Fought in state and regional tournaments, and then advancing to national tournaments (Golden Gloves, USA Boxing) in 2003.

Initially, trained with Charley "Doc" Williams in the year 2000, which was an honor.
