- Fought the former world heavyweight Tommy Morrison in the National AAU Golden Gloves tournament open class light heavyweight, and lost a four round decision in a bloodfest bout in which both fighters sustained broken noses. Blyweiss was contacted by CDC by mail in Pennsylvania a decade later and submitted to voluntary HIV/AIDS testing due to his bloody amateur AAU bout with Morrison. Tested HIV negative.
