According to the August 18, 1927 THE LOS ANGELES TIMES, Pinnell was near death, after having contact with a high tension electrical wire. He fractured his skull when his head struck the roof of a building which broke his fall. This occurred two miles from Fellows, in the Midway Fields, outside of Bakersfield, CA.
