It is probable that Young Willie Hoppe of El Centro, California later fought as Dick Hoppe, a fighter based in Glendale, California who had a very interesting career during the 1920s and whose real name was Richard Whistler Hopking. There are two entries for Richard Hopking in the 1920 U.S. Census. According to one entry, he was living with his step-father, mother and brother in El Centro. According to the other entry, he was living near El Centro while being a manager of a ranch.
