Swider worked for the Penn-Central Railroad for 47 years retiring in July 1974. At that time he was still working with fighters at a Syracuse Gym and serving as third vice-president of the NVBA and the president of the National Veteran Boxer's Association Ring 56 (The Post-Standard, July 9, 1974).
