Sparring partner for Jack Dempsey in preparation for his title defense against Tommy Gibbons. Stramaglia headbutted Dempsey and opened a cut. He was promptly thrown out of camp by the Dempsey team.

According to his obituary in digital form in the November 5, 1964 edition of the Chicago Tribune on Newspapers.com, Rocco Stramaglia,"one-time sparmate for Jack Dempsey," passed away in the West Side Veterans Hospital on Tuesday (November 3, 1964) at the age of 68. According to the obituary, Stramaglia knocked Dempsey out of the ring during a sparring session and was fired by Dempsey's manager, Jack Kearns. He was survived by his wife, Rose; son, Rocco Jr.; three brothers; and a sister. Note- According to at least one source, Stramaglia was fired by Kearns after he head-butted Dempsey.
