According to the May 14, 1958 Albany Times-Union White began boxing at 15 and fought until 1927 allegedly having more then 250 bouts without ever being knocked out or down. In the Navy in World War I he allegedly won the Fleet-Wide Bantamweight Championship.
According to the April 16, 1919 Albany, NY The Argus White was on furlough from the USS Prairie. He along with fellow boxer William "Fight" Quinn had en,isted May 7, 1918 and had trained at Pelham Bay. White won the Bantamweight Championship of the Atlantic Fleet April 9th beating Eddie Smith of the USS Arizona in six rounds at Guantanamo Bay. They were later re-matched on board the U.S.S. Arizona and White won by KO in the third round. White had won three preliminary bouts prior to the Championship all by KO.
According to the August 25, 1915 The Argus William Vincent was shot in the nose by Theodore Nusbaum at William J Hunter's Saloon and Cabaret Cafe in Albany.
