A death notice of Charles Ambrose "Doddie" Peakes and an obituary of Charlie "Doddy" Peakes, 50 years of age, were found in the December 18, 1947 edition of the Courier-Mail (Brisbane, Qld.) on the Trove website. According to the death notice, Peakes was both a father and grandfather. According to the obituary, Peakes died in a hospital on December 17, 1947. In addition, he was an Australian Imperial Force featherweight champion during World War I and a bantamweight champion of Queensland.
