  • Chiaverini is one of the most popular boxers to ever box out of Kansas City, Missouri.
  • The Ring rated Chiaverini No. 8 at middleweight in 1978.
  • Before his fourth-round RTD loss to Sugar Ray Leonard on June 24, 1979, Hall of Fame broadcaster Howard Cosell described Chiaverini as "a man who likes to cut the ring in half . . . work the body over, then bring the blows up to the head. And he has knockout power."
  • Chiaverini was scheduled to fight Maurice Hope for Hope's WBC jr. middleweight title in March of 1980. However, Hope had an injury clause inserted into the contract and when he suffered an eye injury he pulled out of the match. He then signed to defend his title instead against Rocky Mattioli.
