- Earp refereed the 1896 fight between Bob Fitzsimmons and Tom Sharkey. The fight ended with Fitzsimmons being disqualified for an alleged foul, although he had knocked Sharkey out. Earp, among others, was accused of fraud by the Fitzsimmons's side.[1]
