Toppi began promoting in 1925 at the New Broadway A.C., and worked there before moving to the Olympia A.C. in the mid-1930s, and to the Metropolitan Opera House in the mid-1940s. Toppi stepped away from promoting in the late 1940s, as his son handled the promoting while he owned and operated the Metropolitan Opera House and Toppi Stadium. Toppi returned to promoting in the mid-1960s, shortly before his death.
