Louis (Lou) Messina was an American boxing promoter in New Orleans active from 1942 into the 1980s. Messina, along with Heard Ragas was the most successful promoter in New Orleans during the post-World War II era. Messina began promoting in 1942, taking over the promotion of African-American shows in New Orleans from Lou Ovalasiti at the Victory Arena. Messina started promoting "white" shows in 1944, while continuing to promote black shows until the early 1950s.
