February 25, 1940 newspaper article-- Frank Bruno walked into Greenpoint Hospital, Brooklyn, tonight and said to the nurse at the reception desk: "I'm shot." Then he collapsed. The police were notified, shortly before he was taken into the operating room for X-rays of a bullet wound in the right side of the abdomen, he insisted he was shot by a stranger for a motive unknown to him. He had been reading a newspaper in a stationery store when a man entered, drew a pistol from his pocket, fired at him and fled. His condition is not believed to be life threatening. ________________
