According to the December 13, 1932 edition of the Chicago Tribune (Chicago, Illinois) on Newspapers.com, Frank Schaeffer, a 30-year-old boxer was found dead during the night of December 12, 1932 in a Chicago tailor shop that was known to the police as "a speakeasy and a hangout for hoodlums" Schaeffer apparently was shot during a drinking party. During the same night of December 12, 1932, six other people were killed besides Schaeffer in Chicago, including three policemen. Items found in Schaeffer's pockets included a receipt showing that paid his dues to the sheet metal workers' union. Fred Rowan, a black man who owned the tailor ship, was being sought by the police in order to find out what he knew about details about Schaeffer's death.
Frankie Schaeffer apparently was the brother of fellow boxer, Herbie Schaeffer.
