Jack "Doc" Davis from Carson City, Nevada, was a member of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, appointed in 1978. During his tenure, Davis faced several controversies and ethical problems. He notoriously served on the commission while at the same time served as president of a sanctioning organization which held fights in Nevada. Eventually, Davis-a Democrat- was replaced on the commission by Bob Fermoile in 1981 by Governor Robert List-a Republican. He later served as chief inspector of Northern Nevada, a position he obtained after working to have Al Montechelle replaced so that he could accept the position.
