Gogotya was most famous for dropping Vic Toweel in a sparring session As a he won the Transvaal Bantamweight Title and he is reported to have won 20 out of 30 fights, one of his losses being a 1st round KO loss to Elijah Mokone at Durban's Hoy Park for the South African Bantamweight Title. Gogotya retired after a 5-round KO loss to Louis Joshua. He died at the age of 69 in June 1998
