Amateur Career

• Joe Maphosa had 75 amateur bouts, winning 60. In 2010, he won the CYP's and in 2015, he won the Haringey Cup. Maphosa has got into the senior ABA finals on two occasions, losing a split to Reece Bellotti at Bantamweight in 2012 and Sunny Edwards at light flyweight in 2015. Maphosa won Gold at the Open Class Golden Belt event in Romania, Silver at the Tammer event in Finland and the President's cup in Turkey, plus a Bronze at the Strandja meet in Bulgaria. Maphosa also represented the British Lionhearts in the WSB (Word Series of Boxing), losing on a split to Cuba's world number one Joahnys Argilagos.
