• Billam-Smith represented local club Poole ABC as an amateur.
• As an amateur, Billam-Smith was twice ABA finalist, reaching the finals in 2016 and 2013, losing to Cheavon Clarke (3-0) and Jack Massey (5-0) respectively. Billam Smith had a semi-final appearance at the ABA's in 2012 - losing to Deion Jumah (31-11) - and reached the quarter-finals in 2017 and 2014, losing to Viddal Riley and Chezerae Nihell (2-1) respectively.
