Marvin Camel is a member of the Flathead Tribe (also said to be a member of the Salish Kootenai Nation). In 1980, Camel became the first world champion in the cruiserweight division. In 2006, at the World Boxing Council's 44th annual convention, WBC president Jose Sulaiman awarded him honorary champion status.
