According to the April 7, 1942 The Morning Herald, Gloversville and Johnstown NY Sergeant John W. Lenahan of the USMC was killed in an automobile accident near Dansville, NY. He and three companions who all passed were on their way to Buffalo, NY from Quantico VA when the crash occurred. Lenahan had enlisted about two years earlier. Lenahan had won the district Diamond Belt in Albany three years earlier and had competed in the Eastern States Championships in Boston.
