Theodore Ernst Kara (born: April 2, 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio; died: February 14, 1944 Pacific Ocean) was an American amateur boxer who won the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions vs. (It has been said) Paul Spica and represented the United States as a featherweight at the 1936 Berlin Olympic games. Kara also won two NCAA boxing championships for the University of Idaho in 1940 and 1941. He later became a radio-man in the United States Army Air Corp and was declared dead after his plane went missing in action over the Pacific Ocean in 1944 during World War II. His official death date is February 14, 1944. According to the September 14, 1944 Buffalo Evening News Lt. Ted Kara, 28, was missing since August 5, 1944 in which he was on his fifth aerial mission. Brother of fellow boxer Frank Kara.
