The Iowa News Service wire was a news agency wire service operated by the Des Moines Register which published articles and news reports in various Iowa cities that were shared with other Iowa newspapers who subscribed to the service. The service carried many reports of boxing programs in various Iowa cities during the newspaper decision era in Iowa, which stretched until 1941. As a result many of the results in the BoxRec database carry the newspaper report of the Iowa News Service as the newspaper decision, when the report of a local newspaper decision is absent.
Newspaper decisions of the Iowa News Service wire did not always match those of local papers, and are treated as a separate newspaper decision opinion when conflicts arise.
