"Gaspar (Indian) Ortega of Mexico upset Isaac Logart, Cuba, by pounding out a divided decision in a fiercely fought 10 rounder tonight at Mechanics Building. Ortega took a heavy body battering but landed enough strong punches to earn the votes of two officials and halt the Cuban's nine-fight winning string. Logart appeared to land the harder and cleaner blows, while blocking or slipping Ortega's efforts most of the way. Ortega appeared to have the edge at long distance and several times caught Logart coming in with rights and lefts to the head. The Mexican's last round flurry when he landed his best combinations earned him the final round and the decision." -Associated Press
