"Isaac Logart of Cuba won a split decision over Ramon Fuentes of Los Angeles tonight in a dull 10 round match between ranking welterweight contenders. Only an action-packed last round pleased the MSG crowd of about 3,000. The bout was marred by much clinching, there were no knockdowns or anything close to it until the last round. Logart shouldered Fuentes against the ropes near the Cuban's own corner in the 10th and pounded away with counter-punches. At the final bell, Fuentes right eye was badly puffed. Referee Ruby Goldstein continually warned the fighters to "give us a little action" and "step it up." He visited both corners after the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th rounds to try to stir up a little more fire." -Associated Press
