"Jackie (Kid) Berg, the Whitechapel Whirlwind, came far enough back to his old place in the lightweights tonight to hold Sammy Fuller of Boston, to a draw in a bristling 10-round duel before a crowd of 12,000. Twice Berg was on the floor. Once in the 5th from a low blow and again in the 8th just as the closing bell rang. But neither of these could stop Berg from pounding forward enough to gain the draw verdict. Until he tired under Fuller's steady body thumping in the 6th, Berg made a brilliant fight of it, although many of the newspapermen thought Fuller, by his cleaner punching, had won a slight edge." -Associated Press
- Fuller lost the 5th round due to the low blow.
- Both judges called the fight a draw and referee Jack Denning voted for Berg.
- MSG was hoping to match the winner of this bout with Billy Petrolle on May 6th for the right to challenge Tony Canzoneri for his lightweight title. But the result of a draw threw a wrench in the works and had them simply rematching Berg and Fuller with Petrolle receiving the title shot later in the year anyway.
