"Lloyd Marshall of Sacramento, duration light heavyweight champion, was given a unanimous decision in 10 rounds Saturday night in Hollywood baseball park over Jack Chase of Denver, former California middleweight titleholder. The verdict was greeted with considerable booing by the crowd, but Marshall, landing the heavier punches, finished stronger than Chase and had built up points in the earlier rounds." -Associated Press

  • The co-main event on this card was a non-title 10 rounder between world bantamweight champion Manuel Ortiz and Carlos Chavez.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the verdict was loudly booed and that Chase "appeared to have the edge" despite Marshall's harder hitting. The Los Angeles Citizen-News wrote that 1-3 underdog Chase was "robbed."
