Notes

According to Topeka Daily Capital and Topeka Daily State Journal (searched by Adam Pollack) the bout went full 10 rounds. Both wore 8 ounce gloves. Neither man appeared in danger of being knocked out. McCormick wore cloth tape on his hands but Johnson wore black rubber tape. In the 5th round McCormick got in a terrific right on Johnson's chin but failed to follow up.
