McAuliffe easily outpointed Daly in their rematch. Draw given in praise of Daly's gritty showing and McAuliffe and his backers were so infuriated by the call that McAuliffe threatened to retire before Jack Dempsey "The Nonpareil" persuaded him not to do so.
