With regard to the heavyweight Jack McCormick, according to his grand-daughter, Peggy McCormick of San Ramon CA, her grandfather's correct name was John Forbes McCormick, but he was usually called Jack McCormick.

He was not born in Galveston, Texas--an error traceable to the 1906 edition of T. S. Andrews World’s Sporting Annual Record Books and to the 1944 edition of the Ring Record Book. Therefore, he is to be distinguished from heavyweight Jim McCormick of Galveston who fought World Champion Jack Johnson.

Also his birth name was not John Heimann. He was born in Philadelphia and moved to Chicago in or around 1899, where his four children were born.
