A referee's decision in favor of Redman was corrected by Promoter C.L. Miltenberger, who stated that no decisions are allowed in Indiana. Jim Enright, ringside reporter for the Benton Harbor News-Palladium, scored the fight 52-48 for Redman, but considered a draw a fair verdict: 'When two boys climb into the ring and provide the fans with the action displayed in the bout last night and remain evenly matched, it could be nothing different than a draw.'
