Jack Sharkey 194 lbs beat Arthur De Kuh 204 lbs by PTS in round 10 of 10

  • Date: 1928-12-10

  • Referee: Johnny Brassil

"Jack Sharkey, Boston, who is assaying a comeback, won a decision last night over Arthur Dekuh, N.Y. heavyweight. Sharkey gave Dekuh a terrific beating in their 10 round encounter, but lacked punch and finesse. He was heavy and slow, and his timing was woefully off, with the result that he seemed unable to land his hooks cleanly. Although Dekuh appeared paralyzed with fright when the bout started, he took all Sharkey had and never seemed in danger, except in the 6th when Sharkey had him down for a count of nine. But it took seven left hooks to the jaw and a hard right uppercut to turn the trick." -Associated Press
