  • "Bud Gorman, with one-pound advantage over Jack Sharkey, gave the local fighter the surprise of his ring career, when he cantered through the 10 rounds an easy winner in his Boston debut last night. It was one of the fastest bouts between big fellows witnessed in Boston in months and despite the oppressive heat, the big men whizzed through the 10 sessions at break-neck pace. Although Sharkey was outpointed - and by an appreciable margin, since he could be credited with only two rounds - the local man fought a stubborn battle and never stopped trying. But last night Gorman was palpably his master. In all fairness to Sharkey, it should be stated that he appeared to be off his usual form, but whether Gorman's sharp boxing was responsible for Jack's lack of fire is problematical. The sharp-shooting Wisconsin man was not to be denied. There were no knockdowns." -The Lowell Sun
