  • "Jack Sharkey of Boston won a clean cut decision over King Solomon of Panama in a fast 10 round bout here last night. The fight was jammed with action from start to finish, with both combatants trying hard for knockouts in the opening rounds. Sharkey started the fireworks in the first minute by flooring his opponent with a wide right, but the King was up before the count started. There were several furious exchanges with both fighters standing toe to toe swapping punches to head and body. The spurt seemed to tire Solomon however, and Sharkey began to hurt him in the 8th with hard rights, one of which opened the visitor's left eye. The last three rounds were clearly Sharkey's. He was pushing the King all over the ring and punishing him along the ropes." -The Biddeford Journal

    • The Journal reported that the judges scored it 7-2-1 in favor of Sharkey.
