Jack Sheppard promoted boxing shows in Lexington, Kentucky in 1924, while continuing to box professionally. According to the March 4, 1926 Lexington Herald, Sheppard was arrested near Walnut, Kentucky for possessing 15 gallons of moonshine. Sheppard was also a promoter and matchmaker in Cincinnati in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
