Jackie Burke beat Jack Rainwater by PTS in round 10 of 10

The Salt Lake Tribune, described this as a fight with "no holds barred". Both boxers use their elbows, thumbs, and heads, while not breaking cleanly from clinches. Burke had an edge in the 2nd round, and won the 7th by a mile; when he floored Rainwater for a nine-count with a slight left hook and left thumb to the eye. Burke had a slight edge in the 8th, and won the 9th and 10th rounds convincingly. Rainwater had a big edge in the 3rd round, landing consistently with a right to Burke's jaw. Rainwater also won the 5th round. At the finish of the bout, Rainwater's right eye was completely closed, he was cut over his left eye, as well cut and bruised around the mouth. Burke finished was cut around both eye.

Rainwater was defending the Utah State welterweight title, which he had won previously from Burke.
