The French press were angry at the way the promoter presented "Eric Peters". Before the fight the promoter described the fighter as a recent sucessfull campaigner in USA and Canada, now aiming for the European title. When the press found out that Eric Peters was Erkki Piispa who had lost all his fights over there, and also half his fights in Europe, they cried bluff and and dishonesty.
