Knocked down at the end of the first round, undefeated Californian Jaime Garza snapped back in the second to stop Filipino Bobby Berna and capture the WBC super bantamweight title at Los Angeles.
Garza, 24, of Pacoima, dominated the opening session of the bout at the Olympic Auditorium to determine a successor to Wilfredo Gomez as the WBC's super bantamweight champion, but a right hand put him down in the final second.
More surprised that hurt, Garza came back with a vengeance, flooring Berna with a left to the head at 1:10 of the second round and a left and right finished the fight at 1:53 of the round.
