"Jake LaMotta, who polished off Georgie Kochan in 45 seconds of the 9th heat of their 10 rounder in MSG last night, gave his rock-ribbed jaw a good workout in preparation for his September 26th joust with welterweight Sugar Ray Robinson in Chicago. Kochan, whose chin isn't made of porcelain either, landed plenty of Sunday shots on LaMotta's jaw and staggered Jake in the 2nd and 4th rounds. But Jake just took it and kept coming in as the two whaled away at each other in the wildest slugging set-to seen this year in the big arena. Jake finally got Kochan going in the 8th. He landed one heavy hook after the other and the Ohioan went down just as the bell sounded. LaMotta came out pitching in the 9th, sent over a smashing left to his opponent's face and Kochan went down for the full count." -Associated Press
