Middleweight Jake LaMotta of New York punched out a 10-round unanimous decision over Holman Williams of Detroit before a sellout crowd of 16,000 at University of Detroit Stadium tonight.
Referee Johnny Weber called it a 53-47 fight, while the two judges gave the New Yorker a win by 56-44 and 52-48 margins.
The decision was booed by many of the spectators, who saw the 35-year-old Williams spot LaMotta a substantial lead in the early rounds and make a game comeback in the latter stages.
The 25-year-old LaMotta came in at 162 and had a two pound advantage.
