"Laurent Dauthuille of France pumped his left into the middleweight picture today by posting a unanimous 10 round victory over tough Jake LaMotta of New York. Dauthuille clinched his triumph by battering LaMotta with a piston-like series of lefts to the head in the last two rounds. LaMotta was the aggressor most of the time but failed to land as many blows. Dauthuille, a methodical counter-puncher, had no difficulty hitting his opponent with either hand." -United Press
- LaMotta was cut over the left eye in the 5th round and Dauthuille was cut over the left eye in the 6th. They were both examined by the ringside physician after the 6th round, who deemed them fit to continue.
