Pro Boxer: Record

Jake Zeramby was a Hebrew-American lightweight who compiled a good record from 1927-1932. Evidently he became discouraged by the low payment that boxers received in the early 1930s and dropped out of boxing despite a good record.

Published records for Zeramby appeared in the 1929 and 1930 editions of The Everlast Boxing Record and the 1930 edition of the Self-Defense Boxing Record (. Four bouts appear in Zeramby's published record that have not been verified from newspaper accounts, are questionable, and have not been included in this record. They are:

  • Young Collins, Won ko 1
  • Young Wallace, W ko 2
  • Tommy O'Shea, W ko 1
  • Al Herman, W ko 2

So far the four fights that are listed here have not been found in any newspaper database base at this point in time. Zeramby defeated three world champions in his career: Sammy Fuller, Andre Routis and Maurice Holtzer--ranked as high as the #4 Jr. Lightweight in the world by The Ring. Clearly a world class fighter when he fought at the top of his game.
