Bunny Johnson 175 lbs lost to James Scott 175 lbs by RTD at 3:00 in round 7 of 10

"Rahway State Prison inmate James Scott improved his boxing record to 15-0-1 Sunday in his 5th prison bout when Bunny Johnson failed to answer the bell for the 8th round of their scheduled 10 rounder." -Associated Press

  • Johnson was actually the 5th opponent signed to fight Scott. Yaqui Lopez was injured and Vonzell Johnson, Jesse Burnett and Gary Summerhays withdrew for varying reasons. Johnson accepted the bout on 10 days notice.
  • Inmates were allowed to watch the bout in a compound surrounded by a five-foot-high chicken wire fence.
