Jerry Quarry 192 lbs beat Bill Nielsen 203 lbs by UD in round 10 of 10

"The Southland's tarnished heavyweight golden boy, Jerry Quarry, started to redeem himself after his July setback with Eddie Machen by staging total carnage in a lopsided decision over Nebraska heavyweight champ Bill Nielsen at the Olympic Auditorium Thursday night. Quarry, at 192, looked better as a boxer and ring tactician than he has in his two-year career. But it must be admitted that the 203 pound Nielsen was little more than a punching bag for Quarry. A mighty durable punching bag, though, as Nielsen thrilled a crowd of 4,600 by taking Jerry's best punches to the jaw, going out on his feet and coming back for more punishment. Quarry had on display a brand new rapid-fire snappy left jab some observers felt might have beaten Machen." -Long Beach Press-Telegram
