"Jerry Quarry pounded out a unanimous 10 round decision over George 'Scrap Iron' Johnson Tuesday night at the Honolulu International Center. There were no knockdowns in this third meeting of the pair, but Quarry, sometimes boxing, sometimes slugging head-to-head, was never in serious trouble. Johnson, always moving forward, took everything Quarry offered and still kept coming, but was hopelessly outscored. It was Quarry's first fight since his defeat at the hands of Joe Frazier seven months ago. He spent most of the fight dancing and sharpshooting lefts and rights at Johnson's head and occasionally Quarry stepped in and slugged it out with the squat, heavy-bodied Johnson." -United Press International
