"Jesus Pimental won a 5th round TKO of Cowboy Billy Smith in a successful boxing promotion engineered by Tony Padilla at Municipal Auditorium Tuesday night. It was a slowly paced fight until the 4th when Smith, cutting down the back-pedaling, had his best round. He counter-punched well and stung Pimental with several jabs but did no appreciable damage. The end came suddenly. Pimental cornered Smith along the ropes, hurt him with a left-right combination to the jaw and methodically sent his bombs winging toward their target. Smith evaded the corner, fought back with a flurry but was maneuvered into another corner where he took another barrage. When referee Leonard Zuniga saw he was in trouble and that a cut had opened over his left eye he stopped the bout at 2:43 of the round and raised Pimental's hand." -San Antonio Light
