"Jesus Pimental cemented his position as the leading challenger to bantamweight champion Fighting Harada before a packed house at the Municipal Auditorium, and almost everybody went away pleased with the best fight card seen here in a long time as Pimental stopped Mimoun Ben Ali of Spain on a 9th round TKO. Ben Ali forced the action from the beginning and was beating Pimental to the punch, but getting plenty of return fire from the hard-hitting bantamweight from Sayula, Mexico. By the 3rd round, the tempo had stepped up to a furious pace, and it didn't slacken until a weary Pimental coasted in the 8th to catch his second win. But that was only a temporary lull. Pimental uncorked a left hook at the end of a furious flurry and spun Ben Ali off the ropes to the canvas in the 9th, but referee Archie Moore ruled it was no knockdown. But blood poured from both of Ben Ali's eyes and Pimental, sensing the kill, poured it on. He didn't get Ben Ali off his feet again, but Moore stepped in, grabbed Ben Ali in his massive arms, and that ended the fight." -San Antonio Light
