- "He hasn't learned to get his second wind. Actually he did more boxing than he usually does. His style is to just wade in and throw leather." -Babe Griffin, Penaroya's manager.
"Rollie Penaroya tried to steal the thunder from slugging Jesus Pimental Friday night at the Joe Freeman Coliseum but didn't have enough big guns to wage a war with the world's top ranking bantamweight and was stopped after 2:09 of the 5th round. Punching sharper than in any of his previous San Antonio fights, Pimental took all that the aggressive Filipino could throw at him and calmly retaliated with devastating left hooks and right jabs that eventually took their toll. Penaroya was down only once, from a left hook midway through the 5th round, but a flurry of lefts and right crosses that had set him up for the knockdown had done their damage and Penaroya was in no condition to continue although he was up before the count of 10." -San Antonio Light
